Clearing Negative Energy
Written by our Kinesiologist, Jessica Frost.
"Negative energy exists - we have all felt the 'vibes' walking into a space that just does not feel right. And we've probably all also felt the energy of somewhere really sacred, like an ancient cathedral or a traditional holy place, or the awe inspiring beauty of nature. The energy of the love, devotion and prayer of centuries can leave an impression in a space. In a similar way, negative energy can also accumulate. Old goals, for example, can feel cold and disturbing. Sights of wars can feel awful from the accumulation of terror, rage, pain and other emotions."

Abundance, Emotional Freedom Technique/Tapping Workshop
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a stress reduction technique using elements of cognitive therapy, with physical stimulation or tapping of acupuncture points. EFT can address a range of issues by simply focusing on the issue you would like to address with an acceptance statement, along with a simple two finger tapping technique. The emotional freedom technique has been shown to be an effective way to reduce stress and anxiety, emotionally and psychologically heal, as well as help improve sleep quality. Tapping is said to help release negative emotions and allow for a more positive state of mind.

Chiropractic and Whiplash
Whiplash is an injury commonly obtained in rear-end car accidents, sports accidents, or other types of trauma. Whiplash typically occurs due to the forceful extension and flexion of the neck that happens on impact. This can lead to chronic neck pain and other associated symptoms such as headaches and muscle spasms.
Can chiropractic help? A 2005 study showed that spinal manipulations in patients with chronic neck pain lead to significant benefits in both short and long term outcomes.
If you struggle with chronic neck pain from a whiplash injury or otherwise, and would like to consult with one of our chiropractors, give us a call at (03) 9486 8382 to book your appointment now!

spring 2022 lymphatic drainage and meditation
Lymphatic Drainage with Jill Griffiths
Manual lymphatic drainage is used to treat a broad range of inflammatory soft tissue conditions affecting the body’s lymphatic/immune system. Common symptoms such as pain and oedema (swelling) and FATIGUE may be acute or chronic. Typically symptoms present following illness, injury and surgical procedures. Specialised treatments using MLD techniques, exercise and compression garments, collectively known as complex physical therapy (CPT) after major surgery and removal of lymph nodes are used to treat and prevent post surgical lymphoedema.
Meditation Breathing Exercise & Visualisation
In yogic anatomy there are said to be 7 energy centres which underly the major nerve plexuses in the body. These are much like the meridians of the Chinese Medicine System that flow throughout the body via channels or nadis so-called in yoga. These major centres also inform the major endocrine or hormone producing glands so we have two lines of energy in the body - one is the nervous system which houses the consciousness and the other is the blood stream through which the life energy flows.
Anxiety by Fairfield Wellness Counsellor Faiza Yunus |
Anxiety occurs when you are future focussed and have the tendency to worry intensely about everything. One of the symptoms of anxiety is rapid and shallow breathing that can lead to panic attacks if not treated. Anxiety is a coping mechanism and in normal situations, it’s a reaction to stress and overthinking until it becomes your only coping mechanism. Anxiety becomes a problem when you don’t build up strategies to deal with your stress and worrying or find ways to reduce them. You can read more on the blog section of our website. Mobility Month March 2022
Are you as mobile as you think?
During March, we at Fairfield Wellness will be asking our patients to get more mobile this Mobility Month!
A recent survey by the Australian Chiropractors Association (ACA) found that one in ten Australians claim their pain hindered their ability to play with their children; one in ten indicated this pain impacted their intimate relationships, and one in 20 affirmed their persistent pain resulted in increased friction with their partner.
With statistics like these, it is imperative we stay on top of our mobility and monitor any changes in our strength, balance and flexibility. This Mobility Month, try out these four simple tests to discover how ‘mobile’ you are:
- Neck Rotation: testing how far and evenly you can turn your neck on each side.
- Sitting down, keep your shoulders still and against a chair.
- Turn your head all the way to the left, as if you were looking over your shoulder. How far around did you get?
- Repeat on the right. Was it even? Was it comfortable?
- Trunk Side Bend: testing how far you can run your hand down each side of your body.
- Stand with your feet comfortably apart.
- Run a hand down the side of your leg, so you side bend without leaning backwards or forwards.
- Repeat on the other side. Was it even and was it comfortable to do?
- Sit-to-Stand: testing the ease at which you can rise from your chair with crossed arms.
- Sit in the middle of your chair. Cross your arms over your chest.
- Keeping your back straight and arms across your chest.
- Stand straight up and then sit back down. Did you do this easily or was it hard?
- Single Leg Stance: testing how well you balance on each leg.
- In a safe environment free of trip hazards, stand upright with feet together and place hands on hips.
- Lift one foot off the ground. Do not allow your legs to touch. Time how long you can stand without moving.
- Repeat on opposite side. Are you able to stand on each leg for at least 40 seconds? (If under 60 years)
