Peace Breathing by Dr Elena Bacash, Chiropractor

The first full week of every month in the Gita yoga tradition we practice peace breathing.

Peace seems to feel like something out of reach at the moment with our global and local challenges. It’s exacerbated by feeling that we have no control of our environment, but we need to understand that the internal environment has a huge impact on our health and feeling of peace. The internal emotional environment can be reduced to hormonal and neurotransmitter releases that effect tissue, inflammation and ultimately our health – we call this stress.

So from a yogic point of view the ultimate control we have is the state of our inner being and the freedom we feel in life (even in lockdown) is related to the freedom of our consciousness and our ability to be polarised or focused in feelings of awe and expansion and joy – these are what the yogis call the realm of the soul or spirit.

I have been using a couple of techniques lately to help rewire the heaviness of lockdown. If you would like to learn, click here to read the rest of the article on our blog

Yoga for Our Times

These are the days when we need all the support we can get to keep ourselves in a good headspace and even manage an overview of what is happening in our lives and the greater world.

These are the days for yoga.

Yoga has been around for thousands of years through wars, famines, pandemics and life’s upheavals and it has guided its practitioners to be grounded, healthy and connected. Once you engage in yoga your life is never the same because it slowly focuses on your body, mind and spirit to bring balance.

There are many ways yoga achieves this balance and some of these are particularly important right now with the stresses of Lockdown.... click here to see full article.

Pregnancy Webster Technique

The Webster Technique Balances the sacrum and sacroiliac joints as well as ligaments around the pelvis during pregnancy. Dr Elena Bacash, Chiropractor uses this technique.

‘The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/ sacroiliac joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved.’ (ICPA- International Chiropractic Paediatric Association)

A study published in the July/August 2002 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT) shows that the "Webster Technique" was used to manage the musculoskeletal causes of intrauterine constraint.
